Haven't you already won a copy Kerry? I thought Paul said you and Sean got one because of the bug problem. Either way thats a hell of a score you got. I just got 1693, I don't know if I can get much better.

Aw come on Rodeo. I had one 10" fish in that last score and I think two 13"s so theres still lots of room for improvement. And it took more than a minute to each site. I think my best time was 3'58" so there's more room to up the ante. :D

score to beat

Postby jcroc36 » Thu Feb 08, 2007 10:45 am

Hi Kerry

Can you give me a clue on what flies you are using to get that type of score. My highest score is 1513, but since i cant get over 1300 which is frustrating for me to even be in with a chance to come close to your score.
thanks

Flies. I use all three of the caddis dries, one of the stone flies and an #18 griffiths gnat.. If I don't get a hit in 30 to 60 seconds on a site, I check the hatch. And, I cast to just the spots I have previously had good action. :D

On the (rare) occasions when I manage to get up to 1500-1600, my 'inchage' is usually helped by big fish on sites 2 and 4. I would try to take your time on these sites and see if you can spot any of the biggies rising. If you look closely, you can often see which flies these fish are coming up to and select your own accordingly (the midges appear like little white dots, the stonefly are large and dark brown, the sedge are smaller than the stoneflies and either brown or tan). If your fly is ambushed en route by a greedy tiddler, you can even try resisting the urge to strike and often they'll spit the hook giving you anotehr go at that 20 incher.

Hope that helps.

Sean

p.s. where in Aberdeenshire are you?
