RWFF Species List ver. 1.0

Postby richwest » Sun Mar 09, 2008 8:25 am

Hi, to all my fellow outingcreators.

I've been collecting fishdata and created a list with the species we use in RWFF.

I just need some more translations, but it is usable, as it is.

The list has Names in different laguages, picture of the fish in RWFF and most important the max. size, according to the registered data.

Here you can download it:

http://rwff.janrochat.com/RWFF_Species_List_1_0.zip

If these sizes are kept in mind, you do not have the risk of being out of registration and/or competitions.

Regards Richard

BTW if anyone has missing translations, be welcome to send them to me, so i can complete the list.

Hi, everyone

I've been meaning to ask this question a while ago, but never got that far and maybe it's a stupid question. After reading Richards species list, it seems to me that a whole bunch of outings contain fish over the maximum size, e.g. Arctic char - 16", Atlantic salmon - 26", barbel 28", brown trout - 24" and many more. Does this mean that those outings should be ruled out for clubhouse records and if not how does it work that most records are better than the maximum sizes? One last question - which outings are currently ruled out for clubhouse records?

Cheers,
Gerdus

Hello Gerdus and everyone,

I don't think, that this species are too big. Wikipedia says:

Barbel

Arctic Char

Salmon

Please correct me, if I'm wrong.

At the moment we have one outing ruled out for records. It's Wonderland (http://www.alice-dsl.net/pethein/contes ... utings.htm) (It's marked as banned from records)

Anyway, I thought also how we could handle this problem. One way could be to send upcoming custom-outings to Paul, before they will released. He could check and valid it, if fishsize are ok. These outing could be marked as "verified".

What do you think? Paul, would you do the job?

Hi all,

for anyone who is interested in the real size of actually caught species here is a link to one of the official european record lists. It is a german site but you can choose your language for the species name by clicking the flag at the top.

http://www.fisch-hitparade.de/fischhitp ... listen.php

Hope this helps a little to clear the uncertainty of the fish size.

Peter, for me there is not only the max size important to sign an outing as "verified"
but also that no species are in an outing that doesn't occur there in real. ( such as a tropical fish in my river Wupper   ). Such outings can give a lot of fun, but imo they should be "banned" from competitions and recordlists too because the primary concept of RWFF was "Realistic fly fishing on your computer!"

Friendly regards

Hi, Peter

As far as I could find out you are right about the sizes - and the sizes of the other fish in the game probably aren't that far off either. My thinking is that, where realistically possible, the sizes in the species list should be reconciled with those in the game. For example, I caught Arctic chars in the range of 36", which is quite a bit bigger than the 16" max in the species list. This holds true for many other species as well.

Cheers,
Gerdus

Hi guys,

When i find time, after I got my new PC working, (lot of Vista problems) i will reconcile the sizes in the species-list.

The sizes listed at this moment i got from wikipedia and governemental sites and so on.

I will look at the site, mentioned by Wuppereumel to update sizes.

Hope to have thing going soon.
