Update 119 ready to download

Postby paul » Tue Jan 22, 2008 2:45 pm

Hey, folks. The update to version 119 is now available at this link:

http://www.pishtech.com/rwffu119.zip

Fish fighting is more precisely tuned. Testers didn't have any fish run past the shore or anything like that. Hooks will slip out much less often especially if you keep some tension on the line. Tippets can get damaged during a fight (not on begginer level, only very slightly in experienced, moderately on expert level) so as in the real world you might have an occasional break-off at less tension than the leader is expected to hold.

Another change is the way the reel functions, for now only effecting the expert level. It makes the reel act more like a real reel, really. You can now crank it no matter how much tension is on the line, including cranking until the leader breaks. When you're cranking you're also preventing the spool from turning backwards, which means the drag won't function while you crank. So now you're in more direct control over the reel and thus the line tension. If a fish starts a sudden run while you're reeling you'll need to react quickly and release the reel to let the fish fight the drag. I think it's a more realistic fishing experience, and I think the folks who beta tested this update agree.

Tight lines (to keep the hook from slipping out),

Paul

Paul congrats! :D :D :D

Very important upgrade you did!

Fish behaviour and figthing looks good and realistic. 8)

Great the new reel functionality (I would extend it also to experienced level) - real realistic! :D :D :D

I saw you also changed the scoring in challenge mode: using also decimals in the sum of points and inserting total challenge score in his line at score-log.txt file. :P

Thanks a lot for all your work and sorry if sometime we (I, better saying!) look impatient and worrysome!

Ciao
Massimo

Paul,

I've gotta say that fishing in expert mode now is VERY different - but I like it very much - it's much more realistic. I discovered that I have a bad habit of beginning to reel in as I'm setting the hook - BIG MISTAKE. I broke off 5 fish before I realized what was happening. I sure as heck don't start reeling in as I set the hook in real life! Funny how you develop little habits and don't even realize it.

I agree with Massimo - in future releases, please add that feature to experienced mode as well.

Well done!

Great work Paul, !
I actually snapped off a couple of fish in Oak Creek on a 4X by getting a bit too aggresive in the expert mode! That hasn't happened in a long time!
It's also great not to have the reel singing for eternity when the fish just run for 40 minutes!
Thanks for the great work! Seems a lot more like the real thing now!

Fly fishing is not a matter of life and death--it's more important than that!

Hi Paul.
Thanks for update, works a treat, good work as usual. Can't
move on forum now for posts of thanks. The words seem to have stirred
all into action. All developers have made good contributions and for that
we are ALL appreciateive, unfortunately we sometimes forget to say a
polite THANKYOU. We have all been guilty of this and I appologise for the
overlook.   :!:

THANKS Paul. Magnificent, Beautiful. Really upgrades the game and so much more realistic even when I pop of the flies of on big fish. Nothing like trying to horse them in. Some of them don't like it and make you pay Just like in Real life. I really like the new reel action.
