New Sacramento outing is great! New hatches?

Postby abourn » Fri Jan 04, 2008 2:12 pm

What a river!

I live in the UK and it is scenery and fishing like this that makes me so envious! I will have to visit the US one day and get a piece of the action! Great new pictures of rainbow trout too.

Anyone got any advice about the new hatches? What is particularly interesting from a UK perspective are the hatches of Salmon/Stoneflies. What are these exactly? I have read that hatches of salmon flies can bring some of the best fishing on US rivers, similar to hatches of mayfly in UK (nb: mayfly in uk is a particular kind of fly rather than a generic term.)? Anyone got patterns for these new critters yet?

Thanks Paul for another great outing!

Thanks, Paul that Sac Outing is great, as long as one is willing to learn new flies and do some tying. Much more realistic than some of the others that have been pumped out lately.
I have fished that river quite a bit over the years and never liked it that much. This version is a lot more fun.
Thanks Again
