Hahahaha, I guess that would work too, eh Ninjata?
But seriously Badger, as long as you have copied everything from your folder on your laptop to the new computer, you should be good to go as both computers will read the same thing. What you should do is run a few tests to make sure the game works properly on your new computer. Might have to make a few graphics adjustments, things of that nature. I wish I could help you further, but I really don't know much about Windows 8, bud.

Hi Badger,

Try this. Go to the RWFF folder and locate the RWFF.exe. Should look like a fly. Right-click on it and select Properties. Then look and see for a tab on top called Compatability. It might not be on top bit under another option. Either way, under Compatability Mode try running the .exe in C-Mode for either Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7. Make sure you click on Apply before you close it out, and then try running the game.

Edit*

Maybe a stupid question, I know, but did you actually install the game or just copy the files? If you only copied, there is your problem. You have to install the main game first either from a disk or the download link.
I'm currently at work but will check in on ya to see if anything is working.

Awesome. Glad we got it sorted. Which one worked, the Compatability Mode or installing? Usually, when it comes to newer computers running older programs, best thing to try first is to run the program in Compatability Mode. Solves 85% of most problems ;-)
Now...don't you have some outings and fishing to catch up on?

Hi Badger and Everyone who helped him:

I am glad you got some competent help and got your RWFF install working! I am with Ninjata on this one. I got RWFF to work on my new laptop with Windows 8 OK. Right after I did that (verifying that RWFF DOES work), I gave the laptop to my wife and she plays Candy Crush on it. I really hated the Windows8 interface and it would be a nightmare to try to do any work on it. Microsoft built the new interface to work mostly with tablets with touch control, like the Samsung and iPad. Last week I went out and bought a new laptop with Windows7 installed. Last of the lot! She is fast and sweet and familiar!

It is possible to just copy your existing RWFF install and put it into a new computer. I have done this many times. The first time you use it though you will be asked to install your license again. Just enter your registration code and send the information to Pishtech and you will be given a new activation code. That is all there is to it.

Have fun with your new computer!

Regards,

Stanley
