RWFF Game-Chat

Postby Pitti » Sat Oct 06, 2007 7:05 pm

Hello :)

I'm a little bit proud to tell you about a new simple Chat-Tool for RWFF. I have tinker it last week and it was not easy, because I'm not a programmer.

What can you do with this tool?

First enter your name, click connect and you can chat with all clubmember who's are online and has running the chat.

But the best is, you can run it in the background while you play RWFF. Then you hear some sounds:

1) If any player caught a fish, you'll hear a "Wahoo".
2) If any guy enter the chat you hear "Hello". If he leave it, you hear "Goodbye".
3) If anybody start or stop the timer, you hear the "bipbip".
4) If the other guy has finished a timer-session, you hear the endsound.
5) And you hear a sound if other people send a message.

You can everytime switch between the game and the chat using "ALT + "TAB". So you can look at the details of the caught of the other guys.

The build-in timer let you start a timelimit-session. Every guy who's online, can setup the same time and start then the fishing against you.

If you like, you can also save the chatlog. It can found in your RWFF Folder.

Of course, this features are not the same like an build-in online-mode, but it's a little workaround till then perhaps a new RWFF Version incl a online mode will be available.

Installing:

You need the Fullversion of Real World Flyfishing 3 build 70813 or above.
Copy the RWFF Chat.exe into your RWFF Folder and run it from here or make an shortcut to your dektop. You know it, it's the same like with the Color Picker.

Please let me know, how it works or about problems. It was really hard for me as nonprogrammer to make this tool. Therefore it could be some bugs there, but I have test it with a friend and runs fine. :)

Download it from the Download-Section of the club-library. Don't forget to refresh your browser.

Visit the clubhouse

Best Regards Peter :)

Wow! Pitti, you've really done a lot of work on this! I take it the chat tool watches the score log for new fish and posts the info? Very clever. I look forward to trying it!

Thanks for all your work on this!

Small update:

I've upload a fixed version, because of small problems about message-edit. It's now 1.001.

Btw: I have played against Massimo. Very funny :)

Hi guys,
Realy! Peter has done a wonderfull job! :D

We have been playing for a while and it's very very funny.

A little problem we'll have is the fact we are "all over the world" :D :D

Now I'm going to bed and someone is getting up! I'll have some problem to play with someone in Australia!

Anyway I think we can organize some amazing contest: fly fishing, at the same time, in the same river, with guys all over the world!!!

For that we should know "what time is it" for each of us! I'm GMT +1 (Rome, Berlin, Vienna)!

What about you all? :?:

Ciao

Yes, I would like this also very much.

We must think about the best time. Perhaps we can find a time for all users?

After the match everybody can save the chatlog and so calculate offline the scores.

For contests I will change the program a little bit, so that it shows the fishcode too. At the moment I thought it's better without it because of it's length. But to include it, is no problem.

A nice timemap can be found here

About the chatserver: It is a free server and it's always possible that it is sometimes down, although this never happens for me so far. Is it someday down, don't worry. Wait and try it later.

Hy Peter,

I think we could have the two versions of contest: the weekly one (like nowadays) and the "chatting" one (perhaps during different amounts of time: one or more hours, one day or more days).

In any case everybody can organize a match with whom is connected at the moment establishing the rules (outing, level, leader (0x..8x), cheater yes or not and so on) like in a gentle fishermen/fisherwomen agreement!

May be we could give or, why not, post a fishing appointment somewhere in the clubhouse and who has the opportunity to play at this time could do it.

What do you think about?

Hello :)

I can't believe it. The server which we have used for the RWFF Chat was always open the last time (I have played online 3 hours ago and have wait for you), but today helper3000.net server has been closed due to lack of interest. :(

Now we look for alternatives. I have asked Paul, and he will also look what could be possible.

Please be patient.

I hope that we can play online very soon. The game with Massimo was so funny :)

News will follow..
