4. Contest: The Big Five (canceled!)

Postby Pitti » Sat Jul 28, 2007 6:27 am

Hello :)

Today starts the new contest "The Big Five" which give you the chance to win a very nice prize. Taupo Tiger donate a beautiful collection of flies as 1. Prize. Thank you very much!

Please look at the clubhouse for the rules and read it carefully.
Visit the Clubhouse

This time we had to change some things.

Please do not post your fish-code at the forum. A nice guy told me, that this would be too easy to cheat, because everybody could copy the datas to his own list. That's right, and I would have to check every code line for duplicate. Too much work. Therefore please send me your caught-list per email. Of course you can post your score at the forum anyway, but without the code.

I will post and update any current topscore at the forum.

This contest isn't easy, I think, and this time the bonus is really hard to get.

Anyway, I hope you have fun :) Tight Lines!

Btw: You should look at the club fly-showroom. Dcarp has build some beautiful new steelhead pattern. They are
included at the addon-pack. Thank you for share it. :)

Best Regards
Pitti

Hi :D

Very nice contest! I think very hard: a steel or a salmon with 8x looks harder than crappies! :?

OK for the new rules; I agree with you.

Ciao a tutti!
Massimo

p.s. Taupo,
thanks for the prize! Very kind!

Hello :)

Look out! We'll have to cancel the contest, because the loop-bug make a fair competition impossible.
Look this threads:

http://www.pishtech.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=175
http://www.pishtech.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=276

Sorry about it, but we will replay this contest later. Any new competition can start only if a patch for this problem is available. It's impossible to run a fair competition under the circumstances. :(

I hope you are agree with this step.

The 1. prize (the nice fly collection donate from Taupo-Tiger) will award at the next valid contest.

Sorry again :(

Fourth contest.

Hi Pitti,

I agree with you. I think it's the correct decision.

My score was 4160 but I think that the steel I got was a little bit strange! :?
Anyway....I'd never lost so many flies!
See you next contest (probably I will have to skip next one as I go on holidays for a week).

Ciao a tutti!

I agree as well that the current contest should be canceled until the bug is fixed. Spent several hours working in big fish only to experience similar problems.

It was a great idea though and quite a challenge. Good thing the fly box has a never-ending supply! Had a nice one on last night, but couldn't get him to budge and it was past my bedtime..............

See you all on the next challenge. Tight lines.

Good decision to cancel the contest. I ran out of flies even though I took a pickup load :!:  I had to break off a couple Steelies because the line kept screaming and I could do nothing about it.

I too had many problems with this contest. The concept was great but it's not easy landing a steelie with the 8X. I ran into this problem: the fly box kept disappearing, I could run my mouse over where the flies should have been and it told me their names but the box wasn't there. Hey Taupo, you're the man.

Let's get these bugs out and go fishing.....

Sounds like we all lost a few flies. How about when we get this rolling again I donate a handful of steelhead hairwings to the pot as a second place prize?

I tie more than I fish so my boxes start filling up after a while.

Pitti - what's the process for getting the prizes out? Do they filter through you, or does the donor request the winners address at the end of the challenge?

Hi Dave :)

It would be very nice if you donate a price too.

About the process for getting it: The winner would send you a PM including his adress. The bad thing is that you pay the postage, but I don't know any other way to give out a prize.

Btw.: I don't think that we need a prize every contest, because most important is the fun. Nevertheless every donator are very welcome :D

I hope Paul can look at the bug very soon, but I suspect that it will take some time, because he must check every outing-site. Perhaps he need our help, on which site at which spot the bug is present (screenshots?).
But it's only my guess. Paul will let know us, if he need us.

The next contest will start shortly after the bug is fixed.

Thank you again :)
