I'm not the sharpest tack in the box when it comes to computer smarts, so I'll
wait for Paul's full download before I download and try it.
Paul,
Should I uninstall the original game first, or leave it as is. and put the new
download into a different folder,...say in Program Files? Thanks.

You can leave your original installation in place. I suggest unzipping this complete copy of the beta into a new folder, and start it by launching pvrs.exe within that folder. Here's the zip file (about 200 MB): http://www.softwareforfishing.com/pvrs_ ... 3_2010.zip

The inability to switch between walking and fishing might just be due to being in mouse-look mode, so right clicking to turn that off ought to help. Good advice about approaching the bank at an angle. Your character will only walk up and down slopes to a certain degree of steepness, around 40 degress or so. Taking steeper slopes at an angle or walking along the side slope makes it easier.

Oh, and if you put this is a new folder it will ask you for your activation code the first time you run it. You can find that by opening pvrsa.txt in your main game folder.

I found a problem with the new build that greatly reduces the fish population in the lakes. For now just fish the river and creek with this beta. I'll upload another build in the next day or two that will fix the lake issue.
