Farrbetterflies

Postby paul » Wed Jul 11, 2007 8:37 pm

Roger Farr has kindly provided some of his highly realistic flies to add to Real World Fly Fishing. When I first saw these flies on http://www.farrbetterflies.com I thought they were more accurately called insect models rather than fishing flies, since I figured anything that looked that realistic couldn't be practical to fish with. When I held them in my hand it was clear that they were designed for fishing, not just for show. The first time I used them I caught a number of trout on one of his keel hook caddis flies and afterwards the fly still looked more like a real caddis than an artificial fly and it was in fine shape to use again.

I've just uploaded a sample of Roger Farr's flies, plus some of his custom materials so you can add his components to your own creations in RWFF. You can download the add-on with this link: http://www.pishtech.com/FarrBetterFlies.zip.

Some great news for all of us who would like to be able to tie flies like these: Roger is working on an E-Book with photos and detailed instructions on how to create FarrBetter flies! I'll post here when that's available. Until then, have fun with these bugs in RWFF!

The forum system thought the period at the end of the sentence should be included in the URL. Try this instead:

Great looking flies Paul, seems a shame to use them to fish :)
