Problem with demo

Postby Rob » Wed Dec 03, 2008 4:19 pm

I have had no issues with the other demos listed here, but today i installed the vrsportfishing demo and it crashes. I have the latest dx9 and registered it also. I did notice by default that this demo showed boxed view by default unlike the others did. What can i do to fix this? Using xp home edition and dx 9.0 c.

error signature i recieved:

AppName: pvrs.exe AppVer: 0.0.0.0 ModName: tv3d65.dll
ModVer: 6.5.27102.1 Offset: 0011d7e5

(This is a copy of a post I just made in response to others having a similar problem):

It's working for some people and others are seeing this problem. Please try this: If you go to the folder where the game is installed and double-click on pvrs.exe, does it run any differently? I'm wondering if the problem might be with the shortcuts created by the installer.

I've also just uploaded the game to an alternate site, in case the problem is coming from corruption or congestion on the web server. The alternate download site is:

http://www.pishtech.com/vrsportfishing_installer.exe

It's the same installer for both the demo version and the full version (you just need a serial number to register and activate the full version.)

Please let me know if you have any success either running the program directly or with the alternate download location.

Thanks,

Paul

I found a possible cause for this issue. Please try unzipping this file into the folder where the game is installed:
http://www.pishtech.com/vrsportfishing_update_001.zip

Again, please let me know if it solves the problem.

There were other issues that came up and were fixed during the beta testing, but this particular issue didn't come up. The DLL in question is the TrueVision 3D library, the 3D engine that the game is built on. It's the same engine in Ice Fishing Derby but this is a newer release of it. I have some new leads to go on, so I'll keep plugging away. I'm sure there will be a straightforward solution as soon as I can duplicate the problem here.

Thanks for bearing with me, everybody!

Please try using this link to update your DirectX, even if it looks like you have an up-to-date version installed:

The best theory I have right now is that some of the data is getting corrupted during the download. Have any of you who are having this problem tried using somethinglike Download Accelerator Plus to get the game installer? If it's file corruption that ought o fix it. It's available online for free. I can post a link a little later tonight.
