Salmo - Trout open mouth but can't eat/bite at minnow-

Hi.

I played this time on Semi-Simulation to see if it was different- and it solved the other posted probelm I had. Now Have TWO problems with the trout.

Only caught crappie. Then a fisherman traded me a lake trout - so I had $ and bought underwater camera.

1) Found trout - can't hook them. Over 50 of them opened mouth, bit at the minnow or mousie....none of them got hooked. I did get 3 of them by using Fraps (free in-game movie maker). I would start Fraps movie right as trout bit at the bait, it would do one screen and freeze the game, then when I hit the key again to stop movie, the trout would get hooked. This worked 3x then the whole game froze and had to re sign on again.

So there is a huge problem getting them to get hooked. They bite at the bait and swim right through it. (tried from all views...no difference).

2) Problem 2. I saw no Lake Trout...only Rainbows. But two of the three that I got by using the Fraps method, turned out to be Lake Trout. But I watched them...they were rainbows. And I was able to move to 20 different locations....lots of deep areas...saw no Lake Trout. Do they look any diferent in the game than the Rainbows?

I hope someone can help me with this as it makes Salmo Lake unplayable. I really enjoy this as a diversion...but this is a real problem. I would also like to purchase the RV Sportfishing but am hoping it doesn't have these types of bugs. (FYI: I have a 3 month old computer that can handle a lot more than this game).

Thanks to all.

I have that problem also. You have to find them with the underwater camera and view the hole instead of the bait.
lakers are green with spots and rainbows are... white-ish with a pink stripe. You will find rainbows at drop-offs into deep water and find lakers in the middle of the depths and sometimes with rainows.

So are you saying that you cannot catch/hook any trout if you are using the underwater camera? You can only catch them if you are using the "look at the hole in the ice" view?

I played again...now well over 100 trout go at bait and I am unable to catch even one. I really bought the game for the trout lake...I hope it will work.

Has anyone else had this problem ....has anyone had the problem and gotten it fixed?

thanks....

You can catch them from any view besides bait view. It is a glitch and paul will fix it eventually.

Hi. I have used all views, over the shoulder, etc but nothing. :|

I have fished a few holes for a few minutes, gotten nothing, then used camera just to check and sure enough - there were trout there. Looks like for some reason it just isn't going to work for me. At least for the moment.

Thanks for the input, however. :P

I will wait for any patch/update that Paul is able to come up with.

Paul says he's working on the issue with the trout not getting hooked, among other things. Stay tuned... :P

I had the same issue on my old computer ( not tried the game yet on this new computer... ).

All horizontal strikes from lakers were failures.

1 in 30 or so horizontal strikes from rainbows were succesful.

By placing the bait above or below the rainbow or laker making them strike vertically instead of horizontally improved odds dramatically.

Rainbows up to 15 inches are very very easy to catch using this method. I've caught rainbows up to 26" using this method although they get the bait at a very low success rate still.

I've caught 4 total lakers using this method, all under 17 inches. I've played the game hundreds and hundreds of hours trying to figure out how to catch Lakers without sucess.

I'm going to try and install the game on this new computer and see if that makes a difference. Game is super fun and addicting.

That is weird, I catch as many as I want if I use first person view...
