Creating flatfish?

Postby Hitman » Fri Jun 06, 2008 6:45 am

Being an Aussie I thought it's about time I made an Aussie venue. One of our most popular fish is the dusky flathead and they love flies. Question is, is it possible to create flatfish such as flathead, flounder etc using the rwffsck program?

There will be roughly 10 species and here is 4 of them. Some of these arent finished yet, they need fine tuning but here's a sample
Image Sand whiting
Image Six spine leatherjacket
Image Fan-bellied leatherjacket
Image and everyones favourite, mullet

P.S Kinda answered my own question here, but heres a very rough copy of the flathead

Hitman,

You anwered your questions indeed, You did very well on these species, just a little finetuning and they will be fine.

Be sure there are no real black spots in the skin-file, because everything that's black, will be filtered out, as you can see, it creates white spots on the back of the fish.
Make the picture about 10% lighter and bring the border back to totally black.

Can't wait for you creating some australian waters, including these great species.

Best regards Richard

Thanks Richard,
They arent the end result anyway, just 15 minutes of me getting the hang of the program. The skin models and pics of fish are all caught by me in the actual venue itself so everythings native :wink:
I'll post back when I've worked out the flounder/ray ordeal with some new fish models.

Cheers

I've gotten very busy hammering away at it. The basic setup is done, just have to tweak the depth and make/add 6 more fish.
All the fish in it are brand spankin new ones, I'll keep the rest as a surprise. Heres some more fish and a site picture to keep ya wanting more :D

Image

Image Silver Trevally, excellent fighter on light line
Image Luderick, mainly a herbivore but will eat the odd prawn or worm
Image Ocean Jacket. Tasty things that'll take whatever you chuck at em

Is there a template I can get for new hatches? I'd like to create some

I think its beer o'clock now, its 8:47pm

Hitman,

Wow, it looks like you're doing overtime on this.

I'm getting more exited by every post you make on this one.

Keep up the good work.

If you're also creating flies on these fish, please send me the files by PM and I will add them to the catalogue.

Also your new species will be added to the specieslist, maybe you can send me some details like max. size and so on of
these species, so I don't have to find out by myself.
In the species list are all available fish listed including names in different languages and max. size, so everyone who is
creating new outings can refer to this list.

Regards Richard

I put this outing on hold for a bit coz its a bigger job then I thought but i've started a smaller outing. I have this in the fish.def folder...

// FISH GROUP:
FOLDER=Luderick
QUANTITY=25
ACTIVITY=50
SPOOKINESS=30
SELECTIVITY=50
MIN LENGTH=
MAX LENGTH=
DEPTH=2

// FISH GROUP:
FOLDER=SeaMullet
QUANTITY=35
ACTIVITY=50
SPOOKINESS=60
SELECTIVITY=50
MIN LENGTH=
MAX LENGTH=
DEPTH=1

... but the sea mullet isnt showing up? I've got all the sea mullet stuff in the fish folder so I don't know whats happening. Had the same problem with the other outing? (I've left out the min and max size for this post and there will be 2 or 3 more species so it's not spoiled for anyone :wink: )

Brendan,

Decrease the amount of fish for each species.

It's to much!!

Think of how much fish of each species are in the complete outing, devide by the number of sites and vari
the number you get then slightly.

Here's an example, including selectivety:
