HOW TO PART ONE.... THE GUIDE TO RIVER EMAN CHALLENGE

Postby taupo_tiger » Sun Feb 03, 2008 3:56 pm

hello,

let me say a few opening words

concerning the score - there is much space above it

1.) since this is no ego shooter - game , there are always more than one solutions - and there are ALWAYS better possibilities to find out

2.) this should be only an example how a "RWFF practical advice section"could look like

3.) there are general rules for EVERY challenge:

- thicker leader is better - if you need 10 minutes to fight a big one on thin leader, you lose much time bonus

- start always very close to you - if you lose a fish you haven´t spooked the ones that are far from you, and reeling in the fish is quicker

- use the arrow up and down of your keyboard to change drag settings DURING fighting to get quicker

- do not change many things in one round - change only number of split shots OR fly and finish the round - result will show you if fly was ok or not

- restart with a smaller or different fly and EQUAL split shots - the result will bring out the best settings for this challenge

- once you know a well working adjustement, fish 3 or 4 tours - there is always also a great portion of luck - if the big one bites or the small one closeby

general settings recommended:

find out improvals yourself once you have reached the upper limit of this setting

12 weight 10´rod

2x leader 10´

floating line

3 split shots

brown and white marabou size 10

the red marks are the casting area, the yellow marks are the biting area

once the casting area is closer, then you should let the fly drift

PS: due to technical reasons - my laptop crashed - the screenshots are from two different rounds

start with the right one - seatrout more than 24

if it does not bite - let the fly drift

i added the score to show 2 things:

time was 5 minutes for almost 140 inch fish

time bonus if it were inches = 15 inch

so if you would catch in each stage a two inch longer fish because of a thinner leader - the result due to long fights would be the same

finally:

this thread was a very first try to set up a "RWFF practical advice board" for people who look for advice

if this is a good idea or not - should be discussed in THIS thread

http://pishtech.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=594

i will of course also appreciate your opinion in this thread - as you like it

one thing would be a must for me if such a board were realized:

it should have a warning: "if you want to explore the sites yourself, you should stay out of this area in your own interest"

Wow, what a score and fishing time

Very nice guide Taupo, but I'm a little bit unsure if it's a good idea to post
your score at the forum. I fear that some guys could run into frustration if they look at your scores.

Therefore @all:

Please don't give up if you see Taupos score. We all know, he is one of the absolute top three fishermans here.

I'm sure that most guys can't finish the Eman in 5 minutes.

Tight Lines

Hi Teaser :)

Welcome :D

You could use the "Upload attachment" option in the development forum to upload your zip.
