Hi Rob

There are 3 levels of fishing the game beginner, experienced and expert. If you go to your options menu, try picking the beginner. You should be able to see fish rising and be able to catch them. Once you have played the game a few times, you can try going up to experienced or expert it is a lot harder to see rising fish and also catch them.

I was wondering which game you were playing as i have never heard it is a close match.

If this doesn't work let me know.

Hi Rob:

Welcome to the wonderful world of RWFF and forum! Barns usually has the opposite problem, he catches too many fish! :D Myabe we can put our head together and get you fishing soon.

You said you played the game for six hours without catching a fish. What a strange problem! If you could do that without crashing and having other odd problems the program must have been intalled correctly. You also said you fished in Beginner's Mode which should be fairly easy. Please do this for me, select Beginner Mode in the Options buttton, then go to an OEM RWFF outing called "West Fork of Wandering River" which should already be on your program. This outing is beautiful and shows many rising fish in all the scenes. Brookies and Browns. Tie on something like a size 12-14 size red dun (match your fly to the food shown in Check Hatch in the flybox) and the fish should be very interested. Use your normal good judgement as a flyfisherman in selecting a rod size, leader size, etc for a small stream. This should work. If not please check back in with your findings.

Also, when you open your RWFF program please note the version number on the bottom right hand side of the screen and write it down. Most of us have gone to V.125 beta which seem to be stable and has added features. Please let us know what version you have installed. Looking forward to hearing from you. :)

Stanley

Hi Stanley
I tried your suggestion on the west fork, still no luck.
As for the version there is not a # like you gave as it loads it does say it is the third version.
In the bottom right it comes up [ build 70310 ] in a gray shaded box with the # under the word build.
I am wondering if maybe the demo left something that is tying up the rel game?
I want to thank everyone for taking the time to help.
Rob

Rob,

If you'd said you fished 6 hours on the Lewis River without action that would be a bit less surprising since the population is lower and the fish are super-picky. But on the Wandering where the bugs are hatching and the fish are feeding it's not uncommon to catch a fish every couple of minutes.

I've got to wonder if there was some corruption in the download that might be messing things up. Usually download corruption would keep the game from running at all, though. Stanley's suggestion to get build 125 from the download section is a very good one. If there is some corruption then this build will either fix it, or tell you that the files don't match up as they should.

Thanks, Stanley and Barns for jumping in so fast to help a new RWFF user!

Tight lines,

Paul

Hi Rob:

No problem! Paul, knowing you and Richard are currently very busy Barns and I are glad to pitch in and help! :D

Rob, to try to resolve your problem please go to the Pishtech website, Download section, and download the latest V.125 update for RWFF. Unzip the file, open the readme file and follow the installation instructions. Most people forget to update the installed program by clicking on the update-exe file. If the update is successful the lower right hand RWFF screen should show V.125 and then the version numbers.

This V.125 version has a self checking, verifying stage at the beginning of the program and it will tell you if all the files needed are there, and would also find other problems within the RWFF installation. RWFF is a great program but does require some tweaking, like updates of fish, food, music files to function properly. The errors shown in the verifying stage will be very helpful in diagnosing any problem within the program. Please try this and let us know how it goes. If there are some error found please post the errors on this forum and we will try to help you solve those problems. Good luck! :D

Regards,

Stanley

Hi Fellow Tightliners
I have been busy at work and havent had time to get out on the water lately.
What I did was get the update you suggested, everything looked good but I still
was unable to get a rise. Today I hid the original zip files and uninstalled the game, and
reinstalled them together.I went out to the west fork and on the first cast "Bingo",sure felt good to see
the fish rise to my fly.
One good thing was I had time to get a lot of practice casting with my joysick.
You guys are great. I really am glad you have set up this forum to help out people like me.
Thanks for the help.
Will be posting again
Robert

Hi Rob:

Good to see you up and running, or should I say, casting and catching now. :D :D You will have a great time exploring all the outings and fish species in this fantastic program. Please check back with us on your questions, technical problems, etc. Or just check in and say hello and post some of your ideas, thoughts and catches. Also visit the club house for additional work in progress and features. Richard has done a fantastic job there to help fishers and to make the game more interesting for all. Good luck fishing!!! :D :D

Stanley
