American Eel catches in Tennessee

Postby KHopsResearcher » Wed Oct 07, 2015 9:02 pm

Hey guys,

I am doing research for the TWRA concerning American Eel sightings and catches. I would love to know where there have been American Eel catches, specifically on the Tennessee side, but close to the border is great too. Things like date, time, weight, length, how you caught it, specific location, etc.. are appreciated. Pictures and permission to use them would also be appreciated. This research will help us update our records which are woefully outdated. Additionally, we are hoping to get an article in the Tennessee Wildlife Magazine and get a clear picture on how well the American Eel is doing in Tennessee. Thanks in advance and happy fishing!

Here's a bit more information about the American Eel from the TWRA website including some pics: [url]http://tnfish.org/SpeciesFishInformation_TWRA/AmericanEelTennessee_AnguillaRostrata_TWRA.htm

It's a pretty cool species that actually travels to many different countries where it moves out of salt water into inland freshwater systems. Definitely check it out if you have a minute.
