Sw The Guilin Lijiang River Guilin China

Postby rwwalleye » Sat Feb 22, 2014 4:53 am

Hi Everyone,
Well here is another excellent outing from Martin, a river from our own Stanley's country of China. Martin did an excellent job with this river with the currents and some of the scenery. With some of Stanley's jumping fish and some of the huge fish that Martin included in this outing made a very enjoyable time of fishing on my part. Catch a small fish one time, throw your fly out in a different area of the same site and wham, a monster on your hands that put up a ferocious battle of tug of war. Thank you again Martin for another excellent job well done. Will try another outing in the next day or so. We're under a flood warning right now from all the rain and snow melting. As Martin knows from the flood pictures he made a 3 part outing for me here in Buffalo, Indiana. Our channel off of the river has come up over 6 feet in less then 24 hours and still rising. Down River we have a 6 mile long ice jam that is holding the water back. Tomorrow more melting snow then turning alot colder and 2 - 3 inches of snow for Sunday.
Hope everyone will give this outing a try. I did catch all 15 species that Martin put in this one. Check the photos and the list and you will see some huge fish. Thanks again Martin. Everything working ok on this computer so far, even in safe mode. Starting to get back in the swing of things here.

Hi Roger and Everyone:

Wow! That was an impressive array of fish you caught there. Congratulations! The Guilin Lijiang River is one of the most beautiful and scenic rivers in China and is surrounded by some unbelievable geological formations. A favorite for millions of tourists and photographers over the years. Many of the scenes of classic Chinese paintings were based on the Guilin mountains. Before "bamboo curtain" was taken down, and the people had a first hand look at those magnificent but strangely formed mountains, many Western painters had thought they were abstract, or a figment of the Chinese painter's imagination. That is until they saw that they were for real. :P

The Lijiang runs quietly through the Guilin mountains and is considered a great fishery and provides the much needed water for the farming in that area. No China fishing representation would be complete without the beautiful Lijiang River and Martin did a creditable job of representing it. Congratulations Martin for creating such a great outing.

Here is a nice picture of the Lijiang River in waning light:
