Interesting Bug....The Jassid

Postby Yellowstone7 » Fri Mar 23, 2012 11:26 pm

Hi Everyone:

Here I have an interesting bug for you...the Jassid. This insect is a significant trout food during the early parts of Spring and Summer in many of the streams around the US. The size of the bug varies but size 20 or smaller are the norm. This makes for very fine leader fishing which greatly adds to the challenge of hooking and playing a sizable trout. Very good sport indeed. :P

Here are some pictures of the Jassid and the flies that imitate this very pretty bug.

Coming in an outing pretty soon!

Regards,

Stanley
