I'm sure you're aware of the 2 bugs that are very frustrating:
1. Stuck jumping Steelhead that you can't do anything with but break off.
2. Trout swimming to the left and breaking your leaders.

I wasn't aware how serious these problems were until fishing the contest this week.

I had so many Steelies perform their "jumping in place" act, that I made another video of it.

CHECK OUT THE "BALLERINA STEELIE

After I finished a challenge this afternoon, I went it and did some testing.
Using the heaviest 12 wt. rod and 16 lb leader, I fished a few small streams and couple of the steelhead streams for trout, using a dry fly.
Nearly everyone of the trout that swam to my left, especially the ones that went out of sight, snapped the leaders. Many times I would just hold the rod steady and suddenly the pole would bend like "JAWS" grabbed the fly, and pow, the leaders snapped.
I hope I'm not the only experiencing this so often :?: :?

I obviously thought the last update would put the dancing steelhead to rest, but it clearly hasn't done that. Thanks for the detailed description. I'll try to get a new update out as soon as I can pin down what's going on with both of those issues.

Thanks Paul, the small trout swimming to the left out of sight and snapping your leader, is annoying as the "stuck in place" Steelhead,...IMO.
