An new update for the Third Edition is now available on the downloads page (go to Pishtech.com and click the "Downloads" button.) It's for Third Edition owners only. Version 110 (build 70628) includes the following:

Fix for long fish names overlapping other text in outing records.
Fix for handling outing records in special circumstances.
Enhancement of fish codes and challenge score codes to include date.
Changed fish code font to avoid confusion between U and V characters.
Updated challenge score screen to show calculation for skill level bonus.
"D" keyboard shortcut to dry out flies (using reconditioner.)

It also includes everything from version 110 (build 70523):

Fix for occasional crashes on some computers.
Fix for bug causing extra line to strip out when fly drags bottom.
Fix for issue preventing catching crappie.
Support for custom rod and line color through configuration files.

Tight lines,

Hi All

Thank you Paul for your continuing improvements to this great fishing sim.

I have to say that playing this game has rekindled my interest in fly fishing after a break of nearly 20 years. After playing it this winter, I have been getting out to the local trout ponds as often as I can, and I am having a great time.

Thanks again

Paul,
Downloaded the upgrade, have one minor problem. When fishing the latest challenge have noticed that some of the fish coming to the surface are very blurred and not as clear as normal.

Concerning the blurry fish below the surface, nothing has changed in the update but I can explain what's going on. During the first second of the opening animation the game measures the performance of your computer. It decides how much detail to use for that session when drawing the fish beneath the surface, since that's the most complicated and time consuming part of the graphics. If your computer is plenty fast it will draw the fish at full detail. If it's a little slow it will reduce the detail to 2 pixel squares. Slower yet it will reduce to 3 pixel blocks. If you hit the space bar or click the mouse button when the animation first starts it will skip the animation and the measurement, and the fish will be drawn at full detail. If your computer can't handle that detail you might notice the game slowing down a bit when there are several fish visible at once.

Turning off other programs, running in full screen mode and turning off the Windows sidebar (if you're using Vista) will help the game run smoothly.

Tight lines,

Paul
