Mama Minnow and Record Sea Bass!

Postby Yellowstone7 » Tue Mar 03, 2009 5:10 pm

:D Hi Guys:

I tried to tie a new fly this evening and this is what I came up with. I call it "Mama Minnow C L". It consist of a small fish following a larger fish in tantum configuration. It looks interesting enough for me to go fishing in Alvaro's Ibiza Spain outing. After a few casts I came up with a record Sea Bass! :D :D I might try to tie a minnow chasing a dry fly..... :D :D I thought this is a fairly interesting idea and you would like it. If you are interested I will upload this fly for you to try. :P :P

I have one request, Paul, can you design a tool in the flytying kit where one can bend the shape of the material? like making a curve of the body? Please :D :D

Regards,

Stanley

PS. Richard, don't feel obligated to update the club house record, I will send in a complete record later, after you have had some rest and fishing. :D

Stanley,

With taper keys it is possible to bend specific feathers, which already show some curve.
You can also create bend materials by combining more sizes of the same materials put over eachother, creating the shape you want.

I've created some salmonflies last year using those techniques, ending up with great flies like Rich Original Lee Blue, Rich Kate and Rich Weird Attraction.
Off which Rich Kate took over 1.5 hours to create, It has been boult from 187 different pieces.

So with the possibilities provided, one can create about anything wanted, even baby mouse.

Hey Richard:

Those are very nice flies and must have taken a long time to make. I like your mice a lot. :D The tying tool is a bit too slow to do things I want to do. I lose interest after a while. Wish I can just draw a fly and put it into the flybox. Much quicker and easier. :D :D

Is there a way to create a special personal flybox to put all my own flies in. I remember reading about this somewhere in the Forum. Can you point me to the post that shows how to do this?

Regards,

Stanley

Stanley,

When you have V125 installed, you can create personal flyboxes indeed.

Go to the flies folder and open it.
There you will see files with the .fbx extentions and a template file.
Open the template file to see some explanations

The easiest way to create new flybox., is to open an existing flybox and save as under a new name
like: fly_box_19_Charley's favorites.
Open this newly created file and change it like you want.

Regards Richard

PS. I will put up a download for all materials for flytying at the Clubhouse too, which also contain more different hooktypes and materials
than standard provided with the game.

Hi Richard:

The new flytying material sounds good. We could use a lot more in the "flytying kit". Please let me know when you have them posted in the club house. Thanks! :D

Stanley,

I thought you knew me, but I was wrong.

I had it on the Clubhouse, 5 mins after I made the posting.
It ia at the library downloads section, just above species downloads.

Regards Richard.

Hi Richard:

That was quick. In HK we pride ourselves in our "HK efficiency", :D :D Looks like we could use someone like you over here. Now I am impressed with the Dutch efficiency. :D :D I will go over there and download the material right away. Do I just copy them to my flytying folder??

Yes, unzip and copy to the real world fly fishing root folder.
You can also replace the tying folder.
